Born in Madrid in 1971, Pop has lived in Barcelona for twenty years. He gained attention at a 2023 Nou Barris event alongside Ada Colau and Gran Wyoming, establishing himself as a recognisable media figure.

Pop became well known through his appearances on Andreu Buenafuente’s programmes on La Sexta and Movistar+. However, his segments were eventually pulled for being considered too ‘radical’. He’s worked for media outlets including La Marea, Público, TVE and Cadena SER.

TV3 dedicated the programme ‘Bob in translation’ to his Catalan language learning journey. On the language question, he’s called for less pressure on newcomers, pointing to ‘classism’, though he later celebrated moving from ‘passive Catalan’ to ‘versatile’ use.

His political profile includes being number 38 on Barcelona en Comú’s 2023 list. He’s become an LGBTQ reference point with a forceful and ironic tone, receiving the Spanish Equality Ministry’s ‘Rainbow’ award in 2021.

Pop lives with multiple sclerosis, which he’s used to highlight urban accessibility problems. As a creator, he’s written the novel ‘Mansos’, several essays and the series ‘Maricón perdido’, which won an Ondas Award.
