A tourist coach veered off the C-32 motorway near Santa Susanna (approximately 53 km northeast of Barcelona) on Sunday around midday. The vehicle descended a steep embankment before overturning. Thick vegetation is credited with cushioning the fall and preventing a more disastrous outcome.

At the time of the accident, approximately 60 passengers were onboard. Emergency responders attended to 53 individuals: two sustained serious injuries—reportedly including one minor—and several others sustained minor injuries.

Emergency services mobilized quickly: 13 fire-crew units, five ambulances, and two medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene, and the PROCICAT civil protection plan was placed on prealert.

Those in serious condition were transported to Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol in Badalona, while another less severely injured individual and one with light injuries were taken to the Hospital of Mataró. Others received psychological support at a sports centre in Pineda de Mar.

Most passengers managed to exit the vehicle on their own and climb up to safety. The coach company provided an alternate vehicle so uninjured passengers could resume their journey, mainly heading to Barcelona-El Prat Airport.  Traffic was disrupted, with two lanes closed until one reopened later.
