Casa Batlló Christmas lights have returned to Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia with a special neurodiversity focus this holiday season.

The iconic modernist building launched its free light and music spectacle on November 22nd, running daily until January 6th with shows every half hour from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

Each three-minute performance combines digital arts, colour and sound against the building’s famous facade.

The inauguration coincided with Barcelona’s official Christmas lights switch-on ceremony last Saturday. Furthermore, visitors can enjoy the spectacle completely free from the street without requiring tickets.

Casa Batlló Christmas Lights Support Neurodiversity

This year’s display carries particular significance beyond its visual appeal. The attraction has announced it will use the Christmas season to support neurodivergent individuals, specifically those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Casa Batlló already employs neurodivergent staff members to assist visitors and promote workplace inclusion.

Additionally, the organisation will make donations to two autism-focused charities: Fundación Adana and Associació Aprenem Autisme. This initiative represents a meaningful extension of their existing diversity efforts during the festive period.

The light shows continue Barcelona’s tradition of spectacular Christmas displays along its major avenues. Meanwhile, the city’s public transport system prepares for increased visitor numbers during the holiday season, particularly as transport authorities confirm the end of fare freezes amid funding pressures.

According to El Periódico Barcelona, the Casa Batlló Christmas lights have become an established tradition attracting thousands of visitors annually. The building’s unique architecture provides a stunning canvas for the digital projections that transform throughout each performance.

Consequently, organisers expect large crowds along Passeig de Gràcia throughout December. The accessible timing and free admission make the Casa Batlló Christmas lights particularly popular with families and tourists exploring Barcelona’s festive offerings.

The combination of artistic spectacle and social consciousness distinguishes this year’s installation. Therefore, the Casa Batlló Christmas lights not only illuminate the city but also shine a light on important diversity initiatives during the holiday season.
