Saturdays forecast / ARA

Castanyada Weather Conditions Peak on All Saints’ Day

Saturday’s All Saints’ Day will mark the warmest point of this unusual autumn period. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach between 21°C and 26°C, particularly along the coastal and pre-coastal areas. Furthermore, the day will remain largely calm with plenty of sunshine combined with high cloud bands.

The approaching cold front will gradually increase cloud coverage from the west and north during Saturday afternoon. Consequently, some initial showers may reach the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida by evening. Meanwhile, the garbí wind will return with strength in Girona’s regions, especially around midday in elevated areas.

This warm spell coincides with numerous seasonal celebrations across the region. Many residents will be enjoying traditional Castanyada festival activities that celebrate Catalan autumn traditions in these unusually mild conditions.

Sunday will see the complete passage of the weakened cold front, bringing noticeable weather changes. Night and morning rainfall will affect the northern face of the Pyrenees, continuing intermittently throughout the day. Additionally, scattered showers will fall across other parts of the territory overnight.

The snow level will gradually drop from initial 2,500 meters to 2,000 meters. Some irregular afternoon showers may also occur in points across Girona and Barcelona regions, and in northern Mallorca. Elsewhere, sunshine will dominate but will be accompanied by strengthening mistral and tramontana winds in southern areas.

The arrival of colder air will significantly lower temperatures, particularly in the northern territory. However, the southern coast will experience briefly warmer conditions due to warming winds. Many areas will see values between 17°C and 22°C, with higher readings in the south.

This temperature normalisation will continue into next week, with little rainfall expected. The changing Castanyada weather patterns highlight the transitional nature of autumn in Catalonia as residents enjoy one last warm weekend before proper autumn conditions establish themselves.
