Castelldefels Christmas Festival 2025 officially launched last weekend as thousands of residents and visitors gathered to welcome the holiday season.
The coastal town’s winter festivities began with the traditional lighting ceremony in Plaza de la Iglesia on Saturday 22 November, marking the start of an extensive programme that combines Catalan cultural traditions with medieval-inspired celebrations.

The main events kick off this weekend with the ‘tabalada’ drum procession and ‘correfoc’ fire run through the city centre on Saturday 29 November.

Furthermore, the Castelldefels Popular Culture Association (ACPC) will lead these traditional activities, bringing Catalan folk culture to residents and visitors alike. The drum procession begins at 7pm from Plaza de la Iglesia, winding through major streets before concluding on Isaac Peral.
Meanwhile, the spectacular ‘correfoc’ fire run follows at 8pm, featuring both adult and children’s devil groups from Castelldefels alongside invited groups from neighbouring towns. This fiery spectacle will illuminate the streets with traditional Catalan pyrotechnics, creating a memorable experience for all ages. The route begins on Isaac Peral and concludes back at Plaza de la Iglesia after passing through several central locations.
Additionally, Sunday 30 November brings a special sardana dance session at 11am in Plaza de la Iglesia, accompanied by the Cobla Mediterrània ensemble. This traditional Catalan circle dance represents an important cultural tradition during festival periods. Should weather conditions prove unfavourable, the event will relocate to the Centre Frederic Mompou.
Medieval Market Returns For Twelfth Edition
The highlight of the Castelldefels Christmas Festival 2025 arrives from 5-8 December with the medieval market Castrum Fidelis, one of the town’s historical names. This popular event, now in its twelfth edition, transforms the city with historical reenactments, medieval games, and traditional market stalls. The programme includes impressive historical shows, particularly the horseback tournament in Parc de la Muntanyeta and medieval combat demonstrations.
The Agrupació de Cultura Popular de Castelldefels plays a central role throughout the festivities, organising everything from human tower building to giant figures and traditional dances. According to recent local reports, such cultural events significantly boost weekend activity in the region. The castle-building team has specifically requested public support for their ‘plantada de castells’ on Monday 8 December at 6pm in Plaza de la Iglesia.
