Castelldefels crime rate has decreased by 7.8% over the past year according to official security data released by local authorities. The significant reduction forms part of a broader improvement in public safety and community coexistence perceptions among residents.

Castelldefels Crime Rate Declines Across Multiple Categories

Property crimes showed particularly notable decreases according to the joint report from Local Police and Mossos d’Esquadra. Business burglaries plummeted by 83.3% while thefts from vehicles dropped 43.6%. Furthermore, residential burglaries decreased by 14.3% during the same period.

Crimes against persons also registered substantial improvements. The data reveals a 19.3% reduction in assault injuries and a 10.3% decrease in sexual assaults or abuse cases. Consequently, residents report feeling significantly safer in their community.

Road safety statistics demonstrated equally positive trends. Accidents involving injuries fell by 23.9% with no recorded fatalities. Additionally, pedestrian collisions decreased by 36.6% while traffic fines increased by 13.2%, indicating enhanced preventive policing.

Public Confidence in Security Services Grows

The Barcelona Provincial Council’s Victimisation Survey (EVAMB 2025) corroborates these improvements. Victimisation rates dropped from 25.2% to 19.9% while reporting rates increased to 35.1%. Therefore, public trust in security institutions appears to be strengthening.

Local Police received a citizen satisfaction rating of 7.46 out of 10, substantially exceeding the metropolitan average of 6.73. This positive evaluation reflects the community’s appreciation for enhanced security measures and visible police presence.

The security session chaired by Mayor Manu Reyes included participation from Security Councillor David Solé, Police Chief Raúl Vergel, and representatives from multiple security forces.
