The sector welcomed more than four million visitors throughout the year. This strong performance positions the region as a leading destination for outdoor holidays. The industry also forecasts an impressive occupancy rate of between 85% and 90% for the upcoming Easter period.

Evolving Holiday Experiences

The modern camping experience has transformed significantly. It now offers much more than basic accommodation for tents or caravans. A representative from the sector stated, “It is no longer a place where you can pitch a tent or a caravan. It is a place to live experiences in a space full of services in the midst of a natural environment.”

This evolution includes a wider range of facilities and activities, catering to diverse preferences. Many sites now feature glamping options, swimming pools, restaurants, and organised entertainment. This shift attracts a broader demographic, including families and those seeking comfort alongside nature.

Sector Demands Administrative Support

Despite its record-breaking 2025 figures, the Catalan camping sector faces challenges. Industry leaders are calling for greater governmental assistance to maintain their competitive edge. “We demand more facilities from the administrations and to streamline procedures to remain competitive,” a sector spokesperson emphasised.

Streamlining administrative processes could help accelerate development and innovation within the industry. This support is crucial for the sector to continue its growth trajectory. It also ensures Catalonia remains a top choice for both domestic and international tourists.

Looking ahead, the sector aims to build on its 2025 success. Continued investment and administrative cooperation will be vital. These efforts will help secure its position as a key driver of Catalonia’s tourism economy.
