Nadal voiced his concerns on social media.

Renfe sources have told ACN that safety regulations prevent drivers from exceeding their maximum driving hours. So the company has apologised to passengers. However, it said that only one train, which was heading to Barcelona’s França station, was affected. But the train terminated its process at El Prat around 12:00.

Delays and Driver Hours

Renfe also expressed regret that some opinions had seemingly undermined passenger safety. These opinions suggested the driver could have continued to França station. However, passengers had to leave the train at El Prat.

A signalling issue between El Prat de Llobregat and Bellvitge caused delays. These delays affected the R2 Sud, R13, 14, R15, R16 and R17 lines from 8:00 onwards. However, this incident led to the driver reaching their maximum driving hours at El Prat.

The operator maintains that the situation wasn’t related to a lack of resources. Therefore, the Renfe train evacuation is under investigation.
