In the Barcelona area, university admission cut-off scores in Catalonia have kept rising since 2015, with the double degree in Physics and Mathematics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) reaching 13.370 in 2025. The programme, based in the Barcelona metropolitan area, remains the highest benchmark for students applying to the most competitive courses.
The same double degree at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) also sits near the top of the rankings. According to a betevé report, these studies have led the list in recent years, and the UAB Physics and Mathematics double degree is now the seventh course in Catalonia to require a score above 13.3.
Science and engineering degrees continue to dominate the highest cut-off scores. Medicine and Physical Engineering are regular names near the top, while newer courses are also moving up. Aerospace Technologies Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is now in third place, with a cut-off score of 12.936.
One non-science course also stands out. The double degree in Law and International Relations at UAB reached the seventh-highest score in 2025, at 12.714. That shows how strong the competition is across several subjects, not just in science.
For students across Catalonia, the trend means tougher entry requirements for the most sought-after degrees. Anyone aiming for these places needs very strong marks in their pre-university exams, especially at major universities such as UAB, UB and UPC.
