The ACTxPALESTINE collective warned on Sunday that administrative delays threaten to relocate the November 18th encounter to a smaller venue outside the city, despite initial commitments to host it at the iconic Montjuïc location.
Catalonia-Palestine match organisers sound alarm over venue change
According to ACTxPALESTINE’s official statement, ticket sales should have commenced weeks ago to properly promote what they describe as a “historic match following two years of genocide in Palestine.” Furthermore, they allege that postponing communication, preliminary events and ticket sales until just days before the game suggests an intentional effort to undermine the event’s success.

The organisation has consequently launched an advanced ticket reservation system to demonstrate public support for filling the 55,000-seat Olympic Stadium. Meanwhile, they emphasise their refusal to abandon the original venue plan without significant public pressure.
This development occurs against a backdrop of heightened political tensions, particularly following recent municipal discussions about Middle Eastern conflicts. The match’s symbolic importance has grown considerably since its announcement, representing one of Palestine’s few international sporting appearances during ongoing regional conflicts.
Interestingly, the Palestinian team will play Euskadi at Bilbao’s San Mamés stadium just three days before the scheduled Barcelona match. ACTxPALESTINE notes that Basque institutions, federations and clubs have fully supported that fixture, creating a stark contrast with the administrative hurdles faced in Catalonia.
The organisation maintains that moving the Catalonia-Palestine match would represent a missed opportunity for solidarity and cultural exchange. They urge supporters to demonstrate overwhelming demand through their reservation system, hoping to convince authorities that Barcelona wants to host this significant sporting diplomacy event at its premier football venue.
