Catalonia reservoir levels have surged to 93.5% capacity following recent winter storms. According to the latest data, water reserves across the region’s internal basins reached this level on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
Meanwhile, the Agència Catalana de l’Aigua (ACA) reports that accumulated rainfall has bolstered reserves significantly. Therefore, water security concerns for the region have been alleviated. The total volume of water in the internal basins now stands at 634.6 cubic hectometres. This represents an increase from 629.1 recorded just one week prior.

Catalonia Reservoir Levels: Barcelona Supply System Near Capacity
Of particular significance is the status of the Ter-Llobregat system. This critical infrastructure network supplies fresh water to Barcelona, its metropolitan area, and Girona. The ACA reports that this system is currently at 94.4% capacity. Consequently, it is up nearly a full percentage point from 93.5% last week.
This steady rise reflects the impact of the “storm train.” This term describes a succession of low-pressure systems that has passed over the region in recent weeks.
Current Catalonia Reservoir Levels
While the overall trend is positive, water levels vary across specific reservoirs. Several dams are now operating at near-maximum capacity. For example, Riudecanyes and La Baells are practically full. Conversely, the Siurana reservoir remains the outlier. It holds significantly less water than its counterparts despite a modest weekly increase.
The latest figures for individual reservoirs are as follows:
- Riudecanyes: 99.8% (up from 99.7%)
- La Baells: 99.5% (up from 95.9%)
- La Llosa del Cavall: 98.8% (up from 94%)
- Sant Ponç: 95.8% (up from 95.7%)
- Darnius Boadella: 94.6% (unchanged)
- Susqueda: 94.5% (down from 96.2%)
- Sau: 88.8% (up from 87.8%)
- Foix: 80.4% (down from 81.3%)
- Siurana: 47.1% (up from 45.4%)
In addition, the majority of reservoirs saw increases. However, the Susqueda and Foix reservoirs experienced slight decreases over the past seven days. They dropped by 1.7 and 0.9 percentage points respectively.
