According to data released on Sunday by the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT), four people died in traffic accidents across the region in January. This represents a reduction of seven fatalities compared to January 2025, which saw 11 deaths. Therefore, the figures show a marked improvement.

The SCT data also points to a reduction in serious injuries on Catalan roads. January saw 37 serious injuries (26 men and 11 women). This is a marked decrease from the 60 serious injuries reported during the same period in 2025.
Geographically, the fatal accidents were concentrated in two provinces. Three deaths occurred in Barcelona and one in Tarragona.
