Barcelona City Council has announced changes to loading and unloading times in the green streets of Consell de Cent, Rocafort, Comte Borrell and Girona.

From 2 September, delivery vehicles will only be able to operate from 7 am to 8 am and from 10 am to 4 pm.

The new schedule, developed with the participation of 18 local organisations, is part of the city’s plan to improve public space management, encourage sustainable urban logistics, and ensure safe mobility for pedestrians, especially during school access hours.

Between 8 am and 10 am, the streets will be prioritised for pedestrians, particularly children walking to school. To reduce congestion, delivery vehicles will be able to use adjacent distribution zones (DUM) during this restricted time.

The reform also introduces a new early morning slot from 7 am to 8 am, extending the overall delivery time by 30 minutes compared with previous arrangements.

Tackling infringements

Between March and June, enforcement teams recorded:

  • 1,233 denouncements for loading and unloading infringements from BSM wardens.
  • 965 traffic violations reported by City Police on Saturdays in the green streets.

Authorities report that while bad practices have decreased, tighter regulation and monitoring remain essential to maintain discipline in urban logistics.
