A poorly positioned van caused significant disruption to public transport in the Ciutat Meridiana neighbourhood of Barcelona on Monday evening. Consequently, three bus lines were brought to a standstill for nearly two hours.

According to Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the vehicle was parked improperly at the junction of Avinguda Rasos de Peguera and Carrer Pedraforca. This obstruction prevented buses from navigating the turn, effectively cutting off a key route in the Nou Barris district.

Three bus lines affected in Ciutat Meridiana

The incident began at approximately 7:20 pm and was not resolved until 9:15 pm. During this time, services on lines 62, 76, and 183 were severely impacted.

TMB confirmed that while general services for these lines had to be diverted, three specific buses were trapped directly behind the van. Therefore, these vehicles remained stationary and empty for the duration of the blockage.

Frustration over tow truck delays after bus blocked

The disruption occurred in a strategic location for local mobility, situated very close to the Ciutat Meridiana station on Metro Line 11.

Local residents expressed frustration regarding the response time. In addition, they lamented the long delay before a tow truck arrived to clear the road. This incident highlights the vulnerability of the neighbourhood’s transport network to selfish parking.
