Barcelona’s mayor Jaume Collboni has championed the city’s hospitality industry. He says it’s essential to what makes Barcelona tick. Speaking at Wednesday’s launch of ‘Destino Barcelona’, he made clear the city wants to keep it that way.

The book celebrates the Gremi de Restauració de Barcelona. It’s a ‘great gift for the city’, according to organisers. Personalities from culture, media, and entertainment attended the event.

Amongst those present were journalists Xavier Sardà and Oriol Nolis. Meanwhile, singer Ramoncín and actresses Mercedes Sampietro and Paula Malia also turned up. They’ve all participated in the book’s 12 featured encounters.

Collboni described the book as a pairing of local flavours with Barcelona’s international reach. He believes the city’s currently enjoying one of its best periods ever for food.

Barcelona tops Spain’s Michelin star rankings. However, Collboni thinks it’s the countless neighbourhood restaurants and bars that really drive the city’s high average. For him, the book reflects Barcelona’s culinary excellence.

But there’s more to it than just food. The hospitality sector serves as a meeting point and welcome space for locals and visitors alike. It’s a genuine way of life here.

Núria Solà, president of the Gremi, and director Roger Pallarols attended the launch. The restaurant association has positioned this publication as a celebration of Barcelona’s vibrant food culture.
