The sharpest decline was recorded in Les Franqueses del Vallès, where crime fell by 23.2% in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period the year before.

Nearby Terrassa reported a 17.2% reduction, while Ripollet saw a 17.1% decrease. Officials said the drop was reflected across a range of categories, including sexual offences, cybercrime, vehicle theft and public disorder.

However, not all areas recorded improvements. Crime increased in Vilanova i la Geltrú (+12.4%), Pineda de Mar(+11.3%), Esplugues de Llobregat (+10.3%) and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (+10.2%).

The Interior Ministry publishes crime data twice a year, offering a snapshot of trends across the country’s municipalities of more than 20,000 residents. The figures are based on reports filed with the Mossos d’Esquadra and other police forces.

Officials said the contrasting numbers underline the importance of targeted policing strategies, with some areas showing the benefits of community policing initiatives, while others continue to grapple with high-volume offences.

The next set of crime data will be released at the start of 2026.
