Diagonal Mar shopping centre in Barcelona will open its shops every Sunday and public holiday from 17 May until 13 September. This extended schedule, from 12:00 to 20:00, offers residents and visitors more opportunities for shopping, leisure, and dining.
The centre operates under the “Domingueros” concept, which translates to “Sunday-goers”, aiming to welcome back visitors. Its location within a Tourist High-Traffic Zone (ZGAT) allows for these special opening hours. Tot Barcelona reported this initiative provides a relaxed environment for people to enjoy the centre’s offerings.
This summer plan combines retail, restaurants, and entertainment. The centre is just a short walk from the sea. It provides an open, dynamic setting for all ages.
Diagonal Mar hosts over 170 establishments. Its offerings extend beyond just retail. Notably, TK Maxx recently opened a large store there. This new shop covers more than 2,000 m². It features fashion for women, men, and children, footwear, accessories, beauty products, and homeware. Prices are up to 60% lower than the recommended retail price.

The extended Sunday and public holiday hours are valid from 17 May. They continue until 13 September. This period aligns with Barcelona’s peak tourist season. The centre’s designation as a Tourist High-Traffic Zone (ZGAT) enables this flexibility. This status permits businesses in specific areas to open on Sundays and public holidays.
