Discovery of Multiple False Identities
The incident unfolded on Vinaròs street in the Pubilla Cases neighbourhood. A patrol stopped a car carrying four passengers, comprising three men and one woman. Officers requested documentation from the driver.
During their checks, officers discovered the man carried two driving licences, an international driving permit, an identity document, and a passport. Some of these documents were Argentinian, while others were Chilean. The Guàrdia Urbana confirmed these were false identities, according to a report by El Caso.
The driver’s possession of multiple fraudulent documents led to his immediate arrest. He faces charges of public document forgery.
Suspected Stolen Goods Uncovered
The initial patrol requested support from additional units to secure the scene. Officers then conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and identified the other occupants. Inside the car, they found a box filled with gold coins, several pendants, a watch, and various pins.
None of the four passengers could provide a credible explanation for the origin of these valuable items. Investigators from the Guàrdia Urbana de L’Hospitalet suspect the goods represent spoils from a robbery. They believe this crime may have been committed outside Catalonia.
As a result, three of the passengers are now under investigation in connection with these findings. The items were seized as evidence.
Vehicle Impounded and Further Investigations
Authorities also impounded the vehicle involved in the stop. This decision was made because none of the four occupants held a valid driving licence. The municipal tow truck transported the car to the depot for safekeeping.
The seized items will undergo further investigation by the Guàrdia Urbana. Police aim to determine their exact provenance and link them to any reported thefts. This incident highlights ongoing efforts by local police to combat organised crime and document fraud. The Barcelona metropolitan area includes L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, home to over 260,000 residents.
The investigation continues as authorities work to identify the true owners of the recovered valuables and ascertain the full extent of the driver’s criminal activities.
