Morning commuters in Barcelona were met with an unusual sight on Monday when a car ended up stuck on the steps of a metro station after its driver mistook the entrance for a car park.

The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. at Guinardó – Hospital de Sant Pau station, located at the junction of Sant Quintí Street and Ronda del Guinardó. According to municipal sources, the driver misidentified the station entrance as an underground parking access and drove directly onto the stairway.
The vehicle came to a halt partway down the steps, blocking pedestrian access until emergency services arrived. Fire crews from the Bombers de Barcelona were called to the scene and successfully removed the car. No injuries were reported, and the metro facilities did not sustain damage.
Despite taking place during rush hour, the disruption was minimal. Once the car was retrieved, the driver was able to leave with the vehicle. Authorities have not disclosed whether fines or further action will be pursued.
Such cases are rare but not unprecedented in large cities where confusion between car park entrances and other underground access points occasionally leads to unusual accidents.
