Barcelona’s El Raval neighbourhood has added 12 new Purple Points as part of the Totes som Punt Lila project. The aim is to create trusted local spaces that can support people affected by gender violence in Ciutat Vella.
A Purple Point, or Punt Lila, is a community support spot that helps make gender-based violence more visible. These places, which can be private businesses or public facilities, offer first support, listening and safe accompaniment.
The 12 points are backed by local neighbourhood associations, feminist and social groups, and businesses. The Federation of Neighbourhood Associations of Barcelona, known as FAVB, provides technical and political support for the project.
According to FAVB, the points strengthen the existing response network against gender-based violence. They also support awareness, prevention and community action across the neighbourhood.
The project began in 2019 in the Besòs i el Maresme neighbourhoods. A year later, the FAVB Women’s Commission became a key driver, pushing feminist initiatives, awareness campaigns and training within the neighbourhood movement.
The 12 El Raval Purple Points are: CONVIVE Fundación Cepaim, Carrer de Sant Pau, 80; ACESOP, Carrer de les Flors, 14; Centre Cívic Drassanes, Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 43; Associació Esportiva Ciutat Vella, Carrer de Maria Casas Mira, 40; SOS Racisme, Carrer de Maria Casas Mira, 38; Escola Mediterráneo International House, Carrer de Santa Mònica, 2; Gimnàs Social Sant Pau, Carrer de les Floristes de la Rambla, 10; BV Perruqueria, Carrer de Joaquín Costa, 19; Bar la Ravala, Carrer de la Lluna, 1; Biblioteca Santa Pau, Carrer del Carme, 47; Òptica Univers de la Visió, Carrer de Sant Pau, 119; and Herbolari Llansà, Carrer d’Elisabets, 18.
