The Muntaner street establishment beat 55 other contenders to win the gold award in the annual contest organised by the Ernest Verdaguer Social Work platform Panàtics with support from Barcelona’s Bakers’ Guild.

The judging panel, comprising professional pastry chefs and bakers, conducted blind tastings to evaluate each entry. Consequently, they assessed competitors on multiple criteria including overall structure, exterior appearance, pine nut and marzipan quality, and flavour profile. Silver awards were shared between Fleca Rovira from Santa Agnès de Malanyanes and Barcelona’s own Forn Oller. Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to Xocosave from Riudoms.
