Renfe confirmed the person was struck near the platform at Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. Emergency services arrived quickly but couldn’t save the victim. Police are investigating the circumstances.

Protecció Civil activated the Ferrocat pre-alert plan immediately. Meanwhile, Renfe set up replacement buses between Mataró and Arenys. Thousands of commuters faced disruption during evening rush hour.

The coastal rail line remains completely closed in this section. Train services can’t operate whilst authorities examine the scene. Engineers need to inspect the track before resuming normal service.

Emergency teams worked to manage the situation and assist affected passengers. However, delays spread across the entire coastal network. Commuters reported waiting over 30 minutes for alternative transport.

Renfe Rodalies urged passengers to check for updates. They recommend using the replacement bus service until the line reopens. Nobody knows yet when normal service will resume.

The incident follows recent disruptions on Barcelona’s rail network. Rodalies has faced criticism over service reliability. Today’s tragedy adds to commuters’ ongoing frustrations with the system.
