Caught in the act

According to local police reports, the suspect entered the changing room area. He positioned himself in a cubicle next to one occupied by a minor. The man allegedly crouched down and extended his mobile phone under the dividing curtain. Consequently, he aimed the device’s camera at the girl in the adjacent stall.

Security guards noticed the situation unfolding. Therefore, they acted immediately to detain the man before alerting the authorities. Officers from the Guàrdia Urbana (Barcelona’s municipal police force) arrived at the scene shortly after.

Police investigation into filming a minor

Upon arrival, police officers seized the suspect’s mobile phone. They needed to verify whether any illicit footage had been captured. Following an inspection of the device and verification of the evidence, the officers proceeded with the arrest.

The police arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime involving the discovery and disclosure of secrets (descubrimiento y revelación de secretos). Under Spanish law, this offence covers the non-consensual obtaining and dissemination of intimate images. Moreover, it violates an individual’s privacy.

The Guardia Urbana has transferred the case to the judicial authorities. Consequently, they will now determine the criminal responsibilities of the detainee. Additionally, the arrest for filming a minor comes at a time when Barcelona’s overall crime rates fell by 6.1% in 2025.
