Flomics Biotech breakthrough transforms cancer diagnosis
The winning technology identifies molecular patterns associated with multiple cancer types before symptoms appear. CEO Joao Curado collected the award during Tuesday’s ceremony at the Media TIC building. He emphasised the recognition’s importance for their ongoing development. “Receiving support from such a respected association motivates us to continue and provides visibility for our next steps,” Curado stated.
The awards ceremony formed part of the inaugural 22@Demo Day, which connected over 100 startups with 50 national and international investors. Additionally, the event featured intensive networking sessions and rapid meetings between investors and emerging companies.

Susana Prado, president of the 22@Network Barcelona association, highlighted how these awards recognise initiative, talent and entrepreneurial effort. Meanwhile, Sandra Ruiz, Director General of Digital Economy and Society, praised the association’s work in creating spaces that unite talent, capital and innovation.
The event received support from Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Activa, alongside numerous collaborative entities. Participants competed across four categories: Health and Wellness; Industry 4.0 and Energy; Early-stage Startups; and Growth-stage Startups.
