Three separate vegetation fires broke out across Catalonia on Thursday morning. Consequently, emergency services remained busy throughout the region. The most significant incident occurred in the Baix Llobregat area. There, a blaze affected approximately one hectare of land between the municipalities of Gavà and Castelldefels.
Gavà and Castelldefels Vegetation Fire: No Injuries or Damage
According to the Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Fire Service), the Gavà and Castelldefels fire was concentrated in a wooded area. Specifically, it was located between La Sentiu and Fondo del Celler. Fire crews confirmed that the flames remained within vegetation zones. Therefore, they did not reach any residential buildings or structures.

Fortunately, authorities confirmed the incident concluded without any injuries or material losses. Meanwhile, multiple fire crews were deployed to the scene. Their quick action brought the situation under control.
Gavà and Castelldefels Fire Amid Strong Winds
In addition to the Gavà and Castelldefels vegetation fire, emergency teams responded to two other vegetation fires that morning. These included a second incident elsewhere in Baix Llobregat and a third in Sitges.
These outbreaks coincided with a period of strong winds battering the region. High winds are a known risk factor for spreading wildfires. However, the fire service stated they do not yet have evidence directly linking these specific fires to the gale. Investigations into the precise causes are ongoing.
