Tramvia Blau restoration work will begin in late 2027 following years of community campaigning.
Barcelona mayor Jaume Collboni has officially delivered the executive project to the Avinguda Tibidabo Residents’ Association, marking a significant milestone for the iconic blue tram service that has been out of operation since 2018.

Meanwhile, the comprehensive restoration involves completely remodelling Avinguda del Tibidabo and constructing an underground stormwater deposit. This substantial infrastructure work will extend from Plaça Kennedy to Doctor Andreu, representing a major urban intervention. Investment and Technical Requirements
The Tramvia Blau restoration represents a significant investment of €40-45 million. Additionally, the project requires updating four of the seven original trams – numbers 5, 6, 7 and 8 – to meet modern safety standards. These vehicles, all declared Cultural Assets of National Interest, will maintain their historic appearance while incorporating new technology.
