A hotel terrace boasting one of the most intimate and spectacular views of the Sagrada Família has launched a new brunch service, offering a unique dining experience just as the city prepares for a historic year celebrating Antoni Gaudí.

The rooftop on the ninth floor of the Sercotel Rosellón, located a stone’s throw from the basilica, provides an unparalleled 360-degree panorama of Barcelona, with Gaudí’s masterpiece as its centrepiece.

Previously a coveted spot for sunset cocktails, the terrace now redefines mornings in the city with a brunch menu served from 10:00 to 12:45. This timing coincides with the recent completion of the Sagrada Família’s Tower of Jesus Christ, which reached its final height of 172.5 metres in February.

A Timely Launch for Gaudí’s Centenary

This new offering arrives at a pivotal moment for Barcelona. The city is currently gearing up for major commemorations as this year marks the centenary of visionary architect Antoni Gaudí‘s death on 10 June 1926. These events are expected to draw significant international attention.

Adding to the occasion, Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit Barcelona on 10 June. He will inaugurate the newly completed tower and commemorate the anniversary. This historic visit is anticipated to create a significant surge in tourism, echoing the impact of the last papal visit in 2010. When Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the temple as a minor basilica, bookings for the Sagrada Família reportedly increased by 38 percent.

With high demand anticipated, the hotel has made reservations for the brunch service mandatory. As ABC Cataluña reports, the terrace’s mix of low and high tables, along with bar seating facing the temple, will be among the most sought-after in the city this season.

A Menu to Match the View

The culinary offering focuses on classic brunch favourites, designed for a global palate. Diners can choose from dishes such as baked Eggs Benedict with bacon (€15.50) or smoked salmon (€17.50), served with an English muffin, avocado, and hollandaise sauce.

Other highlights include Huevos Rancheros on blue corn tortillas (€14.00), a spicy Shakshuka with goat’s cheese (€13.30), and Chilaquiles Rojos with fried eggs and soured cream (€13.50). The menu also features photogenic toasts, like one on activated charcoal bread with smoked salmon, and heartier options including a truffled raclette bikini, chicken and waffles, and spiced lamb arayes.

For those seeking healthier or sweeter choices, the kitchen offers a ‘rainbow bowl’ with yoghurt and seasonal fruit, a tropical açaí and mango bowl, and a pistachio-stuffed French toast (torrija).

Celebrating Gaudí Across the City

This new brunch spot offers one of many ways for visitors and locals to engage with Gaudí’s legacy this year. As Barcelona celebrates, other attractions also gain prominence. For instance, a new Gaudí VR experience has launched at Barcelona Cathedral, allowing visitors to virtually step inside the architect’s workshop, which the Spanish Civil War destroyed.

The renewed focus on Gaudí underscores the deep connection between his work and his spiritual convictions – a topic experts identify as key to understanding his architectural marvels. His influence resonates across the city, from restoration projects at Park Güell that are restoring Gaudí’s original water system to annual events like the Barcelona-Sitges classic car rally, which recently paid tribute to the architect. By offering a new way to admire his most famous creation, the Sercotel Rosellón brunch adds another stop to the modern Gaudí trail.
