The Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM) has launched a new collection of fabric cases for T-Mobilitat cards, collaborating with Catalan illustrator Sonia Pulido. The initiative continues a project started in 2024 with artist Òscar Medina, aiming to showcase local talent.

Pulido won the National Illustration Prize in 2020 and the Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators of New York. Her drawings have appeared in major publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker and Variety.

Her T-Mobilitat designs feature three patterns that combine to form a single scene, showing someone travelling by public transport, on foot, by bike and on a scooter. The design has also been adapted for keyring lanyards aimed at young people using the T-16 card.

Where to get them

The ATM will distribute around 85,000 cases for free at T-Mobilitat service points and transport operators across Barcelona’s metropolitan area. Anyone buying a new card, a T-16 or requesting a replacement will receive one of these cases whilst stocks last.

Additionally, about 10,000 keyring lanyards will be handed out over the coming weeks at the Centro T-Mobilitat on Avinguda de la Granvia in l’Hospitalet.

Better for the environment

The cases are made from fabric and cellulose using the ECOVERO system, which cuts emissions and water consumption during production by 50%. This replaces the previous PVC cases, saving an estimated nine tonnes of that material annually whilst significantly improving recyclability and environmental impact.
