Furthermore, the company’s journey began when Antonio Raimundo Ibáñez, the Marquis of Sargadelos, initiated a project that would permanently transform Galician industry and art. By 1849, the Sagardelos factory already employed 1,000 families, establishing itself as a cornerstone of Spanish craftsmanship.

The brand has become renowned for its distinctive tableware and decorative pieces, particularly its monochrome stamping techniques and the unique colour impregnation on white and slightly bluish ceramic backgrounds. Consequently, these design elements have become signature features that distinguish Sagardelos products in the global market.

According to Tot Barcelona, the company currently operates through 15 exclusive distribution points and seventy multi-brand decoration stores and jewellers across Spain, Asia, and America. Therefore, this Barcelona opening represents a strategic move to strengthen its retail presence in key urban centres.

The company describes its products as combining traditional culture with avant-garde design, created through collaborations between master artisans and innovative designers. Additionally, their commitment to quality and durability reflects a broader philosophy of creating pieces meant to last and enhance their surroundings.

This new opening comes as Barcelona continues to invest in its commercial infrastructure, with Diagonal maintaining its status as one of the city’s premier shopping destinations. Meanwhile, the arrival of established heritage brands like Sagardelos demonstrates the ongoing appeal of Barcelona’s retail landscape to both domestic and international businesses.

The historic Galician design firm’s expansion into Barcelona represents more than just a new store opening. Moreover, it signifies the enduring appeal of traditional craftsmanship in contemporary urban settings. As Barcelona’s retail scene continues to evolve, the arrival of heritage brands like Sagardelos adds depth and diversity to the city’s commercial offerings.
