Catalan satellite technology firm Inersia has successfully expanded into the Canadian market this autumn through a strategic partnership with a local company.
The Barcelona-based company, which specialises in satellite imagery analysis and geotechnical monitoring, will now offer its services to Canada’s infrastructure, mining, oil and gas sectors.
According to official documents, the expansion received crucial support from Acció, the Catalan government’s agency for business competitiveness.

Furthermore, their Montreal-based Office for Foreign Trade and Investment facilitated the market entry, demonstrating the regional government’s commitment to boosting international business opportunities.
Catalan Satellite Technology Gains Global Recognition
Inersia’s innovative approach involves analysing satellite imagery to monitor ground displacement with millimetre precision. The company provides comprehensive services including geotechnical studies, digital mapping, geolocation solutions and visual inspection capabilities. Consequently, they offer both data processing and expert analysis interpretation to clients worldwide.
The company has partnered with a Canadian inspection specialist that will hold exclusive rights to market Inersia’s technology across the entire Canadian market. Therefore, this strategic alliance positions the Catalan firm for significant growth in North America.
Meanwhile, the company projects achieving €400,000 in business volume from the Canadian market in the medium to short term. This expansion follows Inersia’s established international presence in markets including Chile, Indonesia, Peru, Mexico, India, Portugal and Ecuador.
Founded in 2022, Inersia maintains its headquarters in Barcelona while operating four international offices in Lima, New Delhi and Mexico City. Remarkably, nearly 90% of their current business activity occurs in international markets, highlighting their global ambitions from the outset.
