Catalan police, the Mossos d'Esquadra, arrested Jonathan Andic, son of Mango fashion empire founder Isak Andic, on Tuesday morning. The arrest connects to his father's death last December. Police are investigating the alleged homicide of Isak Andic, who died after falling down a ravine in Collbató, a municipality in the province of Barcelona.

Isak Andic, 69, died on 14 December 2024, following an incident near the Cuevas del Salnitre in Collbató. Jonathan Andic was the only person accompanying his father at the time of the fatal fall. 'La Vanguardia' newspaper first reported the arrest, which Europa Press later confirmed through sources familiar with the ongoing investigation.

Police transferred Jonathan Andic to the Martorell Court of Instruction Number 5. He will provide a statement there in the coming hours. This development marks a significant turn in the inquiry into the death of one of Catalonia's most influential business figures.

Mango Founder's Legacy

Isak Andic founded Mango in 1984. He transformed it into a global fashion retailer with thousands of stores worldwide. The company's headquarters are in Palau-solità i Plegamans, just north of Barcelona. Mango employs over 15,000 people globally and is a major contributor to the Catalan economy. His unexpected death sent shockwaves through Barcelona's prominent business community and the wider fashion industry.

Collbató is known for its scenic views of the Montserrat mountain range. It also features the historic Cuevas del Salnitre, popular with tourists and hikers. The incident occurred in a rugged, natural area, prompting a complex police inquiry into the precise circumstances of the fall. The area attracts many visitors from Barcelona and beyond.

The investigation by the Martorell court continues. It aims to clarify all details surrounding Isak Andic's death. This case has drawn significant public attention due to the prominence of the Andic family and the Mango brand in Catalonia. Further developments are expected as the judicial process unfolds, impacting a family central to the region's economic space.
