Barcelona’s L5 metro line stopped running between Hospital Clinic and Diagonal stations for more than half an hour yesterday evening. Passengers had to leave trains and wait on platforms whilst the medical incident was resolved.

According to sources travelling towards Vall d’Hebron who spoke to TOT Barcelona, trains reversed direction towards Cornella Centre. TMB announced on social media at 18:50 that service would remain suspended between the two adjacent stations.

TMB sources told TOT Barcelona that a medical incident caused the stoppage. Once medical attention was provided, regular circulation resumed. The transport authority announced at 18:55 that service had been restored, though some trains would run with delays until normal frequency returned.

During the disruption, L5 operated between Cornella Centre and Hospital Clinic, and between Diagonal and Vall d’Hebron, but not between the two central stations. TMB offered assistance to find alternative transport for the affected section.

The incident added to other TMB problems that afternoon. An “uncivic act” at Verdaguer station affected L4 frequencies, whilst a demonstration blocking Riera Alta and Ronda Sant Pau streets disrupted several bus lines including D20, D50, H14, V11, X3, 21, 120 and 121, forcing the cancellation of multiple stops along those routes.
