Level, the low-cost airline part of the IAG group, will suspend its direct flights from Barcelona-El Prat Airport to San Francisco starting 30 April. The company attributes this decision to a “shortage of aircraft engines”, ensuring it can serve other destinations.

This direct route from Barcelona-El Prat Airport typically operates seasonally, between March and October. Flights will proceed as normal throughout April, with the final departure scheduled for 29 March before the suspension takes effect. Level stated this measure ensures the operability of its remaining services.

Passenger Options and Other Routes

Level has already informed all passengers who purchased tickets for affected flights about the cancellation. These passengers can either receive a full refund or rebook their flights to an alternative destination. The airline advises affected travellers to check their email for further instructions and manage any changes through official channels.

Beyond San Francisco, Level maintains operations at Barcelona-El Prat Airport with flights to seven other destinations. These include Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Miami, Buenos Aires, and Santiago de Chile. The airline expects to operate these routes normally throughout 2026, according to company statements.

New Lima Connection from June

Additionally, Level plans to launch a new direct connection from Barcelona to Lima, Peru, starting 3 June. This new service aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the transatlantic market. The introduction of the Lima route follows the airline’s strategy to expand its international low-cost offerings from Barcelona.
