A prolific L’Hospitalet burglar with a lengthy criminal history has been arrested in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Consequently, a hasty escape left him with only one shoe, effectively leading police straight to him.
The Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed on Wednesday that they have detained a 41-year-old man suspected of committing six burglaries. Moreover, the suspect is well-known to local authorities, holding a record of 32 previous offences.

The L’Hospitalet burglar’s one-shoe lead
The arrest took place on Monday following a distress call from a local resident. The victim reported returning to their flat to find a stranger in the process of robbing it. Upon being discovered, the intruder made a desperate exit through a window.
In the chaos of the escape, the suspect dropped one of his trainers. This detail proved crucial; the victim was able to provide a description of the man, noting specifically that he was fleeing barefoot on one foot.
Security patrols swept the immediate area and quickly located a man matching the description-missing the requisite footwear. Therefore, officers arrested him on the spot and recovered items stolen from the victim’s home.
A spree of climbing burglaries by the L’Hospitalet burglar
During the search following his arrest, the L’Hospitalet burglar was found in possession of jewellery linked to a separate robbery committed earlier that same day in a nearby property.
Further investigation revealed that the man was already the subject of an active search and arrest warrant issued by the L’Hospitalet Investigation Unit. In addition, he is the alleged perpetrator of four additional burglaries committed between October 2025 and January 2026.
According to police reports, the suspect’s modus operandi involved scaling the façades of residential buildings to access upper floors, where he would enter through open windows.
The detainee has since been placed at the disposal of the on-duty court in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
