L’Hospitalet Christmas celebrations are set to transform the city with an expanded programme featuring nearly 100 festive activities.
The municipality launches its seasonal festivities today with special significance, marking both the holiday season and the city’s centenary year since achieving official city status.
L’Hospitalet Christmas Programme Prioritises Local Families
Mayor David Quirós has emphasised that this year’s celebrations carry particular importance for the community.

“This is a very special Christmas because it’s the centenary,” he explained. “We commemorate one hundred years since L’Hospitalet transitioned from being a town to having the concept of a city.” Furthermore, he stressed the importance of creating memorable experiences for younger residents during this milestone year.
The council has implemented significant changes to address previous accessibility concerns. Consequently, 80% of tickets for key events will be reserved exclusively for local children, with the remaining available to general public. This new approach responds directly to community feedback about prioritising city families for popular activities.
Innovative Reservation System Launches
Families with children enrolled in municipal schools have received unique codes enabling priority booking for up to three free tickets per child. Meanwhile, families with children not yet schooled can request codes through the council’s electronic office. The reservation system becomes active on the dedicated website www.l-h.cat/nadal with specific booking windows on November 28th and December 1st.
Mayor Quirós acknowledges potential initial technical challenges, urging patience should the website experience high demand. “We’ve been thinking and, above all, listening a lot to families,” he stated, expressing confidence that the new system will ultimately function effectively.
The festive programme includes numerous highlights across all neighbourhoods. The Christmas Circus will run from December 13th to January 7th at Feixa Llarga, while Father Christmas’s House expands to eight days of operation. Additionally, the newly renovated Plaza de la Bòbila debuts its Winter Light Market from December 19th to 30th.
Diverse Activities for All Ages
New additions include ‘Under the Christmas Tree’, a sensory installation for children aged 0-3 at Bellvitge Cultural Centre. This innovative experience combines music, dance, light and projections with traditional Christmas play. Meanwhile, the giant Advent Calendar in Town Hall Square will reveal daily surprises from December 1st to 24th.
Traditional elements remain central to the celebrations. The Santa Llúcia Fair on Rambla de Just Oliveras and the Christmas and Kings Fair on Rambla de la Marina both return. Additionally, the Playmobil nativity scene, solidarity Zambomba event and Christmas concert at Teatre Joventut complete the diverse offering.
The programme culminates with the Three Kings Parade on January 5th. The royal reception begins at 5pm in Plaça de Francesc Macià i Llussà, with the procession commencing at 5:30pm from Plaça de l’Escorça and concluding approximately two hours later at Town Hall Square.
