The Guàrdia Urbana in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat closed an occupied drug den this week on Mossèn Jaume Busquet street in the central La Torrassa district. This action removed a significant source of nuisance and insecurity for local residents.

The ground-floor property had been occupied for some time. Inside, the occupants had set up a living space and sold various drugs. This activity generated insecurity due to the constant flow of buyers and users. Police ensured the occupants could not return; a locksmith changed the locks on the door and shutter. The property owner has now recovered the local.

Tackling Drug Sales in La Torrassa

This closure forms part of the ongoing "Domus" operation, which targets properties used for drug consumption and sales. The Guàrdia Urbana's Information Unit led the dismantling of this specific drug point. L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Catalonia's second-largest city, has seen around 30 such drug dens and flats closed since the start of the year through the Domus initiative.

These closures are part of a broader plan to combat insecurity and crime across the municipality. The Domus operation also involves increased joint efforts with other law enforcement agencies. These include the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Spanish National Police, and the Guardia Civil.

City-Wide Anti-Drug Efforts

The city council is committed to improving public safety. Residents in areas like La Torrassa have frequently reported issues related to drug activity. The ongoing police actions aim to restore peace and security in affected neighbourhoods. Authorities expect the "Domus" operation to continue its efforts against drug trafficking. This sustained police presence aims to further reduce drug-related crime and improve the quality of life for L'Hospitalet residents.
