Llum BCN 2026 will transform Barcelona’s urban landscape into a brilliant, ephemeral open-air museum this weekend. From 6 to 8 February 2026, the district of Sant Martí and the Poblenou neighbourhood will serve as the epicentre of digital creativity for the festival’s 15th edition.

Operating under the artistic concept of ‘Night Landscapes’, the festival invites residents and visitors to rediscover public spaces. Consequently, plazas, streets, and facades are stripped of their daytime utility and reimagined through visual experimentation.

Llum BCN 2026: A Special Edition Expanding Boundaries

While Llum BCN is traditionally rooted in Poblenou’s industrial heritage, the 2026 edition carries exceptional significance. To commemorate Barcelona’s status as the World Capital of Architecture 2026, the festival is breaking its usual geographic boundaries.

Organisers have programmed ten additional installations that fuse lighting and dance. These are distributed across all ten districts of the city. Therefore, this move aims to decentralise the cultural experience. It also highlights emblematic buildings in every neighbourhood, offering a fresh perspective on Barcelona’s architectural heritage through light.

Llum BCN 2026 Installations

In total, the public will have access to 33 installations. The programme balances high-profile global talent with local academic innovation. It features:

  • 12 established international artists
  • 18 design and architecture schools from across the Catalan capital

Llum BCN 2026 Visitor Guide: Routes and Logistics

To manage visitor flow and prevent overcrowding, the festival has designed three colour-coded itineraries. These routes are specifically planned to connect efficiently with public transport, particularly the TRAM and Metro networks.

For those navigating the main festival area in Poblenou, strategic information points have been established at:

  • Josep Antoni Coderch Square
  • Outside the MediaTIC building

Visitors planning to spend the entire evening exploring the lights can find rest areas, food options, and restroom facilities. These are located at the Disseny Hub, MediaTIC, and inside the Parc del Centre del Poblenou.

Llum BCN 2026 Opening Times and Launch

The official launch event takes place this Friday, 6 February, at 18:00 in the foyer of the Disseny Hub Barcelona (accessed via Carrer d’Àvila). The opening will be attended by Mayor Jaume Collboni and the festival’s artistic director, Maria Güell.
