Montjuïc has all the ingredients on paper for a magnificent leisure spot, an oasis beside the city combining culture, services and nature. However, it fills up more at night for concerts at Poble Espanyol, Palau Sant Jordi, Festival Grec or the Olympic Stadium than during the day, despite magnificent walks, museums and curious areas to discover.

The fourth edition of Viu Montjuïc, a weekend festival trying to boost the mountain’s appeal, packed this weekend with activities but Saturday didn’t see large crowds. This contrasts with the vibrant nightlife the mountain enjoys when concerts fill its main venues.

The situation highlights the challenge of attracting daytime visitors to Montjuïc, despite quality cultural, natural and leisure attractions. The festival aims precisely to reverse this trend and promote discovering the mountain’s daytime spaces.
