Mercat de Mercats returns to Plaça Glòries from 17 to 19 October. The 14th edition of Barcelona’s major commercial and food festival comes back to the square after its lengthy renovation.

The council announced on Saturday that returning to Glòries marks a significant milestone. The square underwent extensive transformation over recent years. Now it’s ready to host one of the city’s main festivals again.
Mercat de Mercats showcases Barcelona’s municipal market network. The fair highlights these commercial spaces as economic engines, social hubs, and neighbourhood catalysts. Sixteen stands from ten markets will offer fresh products.
Visitors can buy items bearing various quality marks. A barbecue and picnic zone lets people cook and eat meat, fish, and vegetables purchased at the stalls. This interactive element makes the fair more engaging.
A restaurant area will serve tapas priced at four and six euros. These can be bought directly at the stands. Meanwhile, ‘La Bodegueta’ debuts this year as a new feature.
The bodega space will host tastings throughout the three-day event. Visitors can sample oils, beers, cavas, and wines. This addition enhances the gastronomic experience beyond the main market offerings.
The fair celebrates Barcelona’s fresh food market tradition. These neighbourhood markets remain vital community spaces. They combine commerce with social connection in ways supermarkets cannot replicate.
