Barcelona shooting incidents continue with a man injured in the Navas neighbourhood on Thursday evening.

Barcelona Shooting Investigation Underway

Local residents reportedly heard three gunshots during the incident. The injured man received immediate medical attention at the scene from the Medical Emergency System (SEM). Consequently, he was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Police have confirmed the victim’s life is not in danger. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Guardia Urbana has cordoned off Espronceda street between Meridiana and Sant Antoni Maria Claret to facilitate the investigation.

This latest incident adds to a concerning pattern of firearm-related violence in the city in recent months. For instance, a fatal shooting occurred on Carrer del Consell de Cent in July, which police are investigating as a Serbian mafia clan execution.

Additionally, Mossos d’Esquadra have been actively combating weapon-related crime through initiatives like Plan Daga. This context makes Thursday’s shooting particularly troubling for local authorities.

In August, police detained five people following another shooting in the Sants-Montjuïc district where one person was injured and two firearms were recovered. Another incident later that month saw a bar worker shot by a customer after a heated argument.

The frequency of these events has raised concerns about public safety in certain Barcelona neighbourhoods. Therefore, police are likely to increase patrols in affected areas while their investigation continues.
