Two minors have been arrested in Barcelona following a violent incident involving a bladed weapon and the theft of a scooter. The Mossos d’Esquadra detained the suspects, aged 14 and 16, last Friday in connection with the assault in the Nou Barris district.

The attack occurred on Saturday, 31 January. According to police reports, the two victims, also minors, were assaulted with a knife during the robbery. Consequently, both victims required hospital treatment for their injuries but were discharged the following Monday.

Minors Arrested in Barcelona: Juvenile Detention

Authorities have placed the two suspects in a juvenile detention centre. Officials confirmed that neither of the detained youths had prior police records. They are currently at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, facing charges of robbery with violence and intimidation, as well as causing bodily harm.

The incident took place specifically in the Canyelles neighbourhood of Nou Barris. In response, the Mossos d’Esquadra, working alongside the Guardia Urbana, have reinforced police patrols in the area to reassure the community.

Police officials stated they have closely monitored the situation. Furthermore, they have maintained “periodic contact” with local resident associations and neighbours in Canyelles to address safety concerns following the assault, despite a recent 6% drop in Barcelona’s overall crime rate.
