The Mossos d’Esquadra have dismantled what they describe as the primary retail cocaine distribution point in the Pla d’Urgell region. This follows the arrest of a suspected Mollerussa cocaine dealer. The 51-year-old man, who allegedly supplied local residents with narcotics, was detained after a complex months-long investigation.
Investigation challenged by suspect’s expertise
Police launched their inquiry last summer after receiving intelligence. This information suggested the man was selling drugs to habitual users in Mollerussa and surrounding towns. According to initial reports, the suspect prepared and stored the cocaine at his home before distributing it nearby.

Agents from the Investigation Unit at the Mollerussa police station began tracking the suspect. However, they faced significant challenges. The man, who has a prior police record for drug trafficking, possessed extensive knowledge of police surveillance tactics. Officers noted that he actively employed counter-surveillance measures to avoid detection.
To avoid alerting the target, investigators were forced to proceed with extreme caution. Consequently, they spaced out their surveillance operations over time. Eventually, they confirmed that the suspect was arranging meetings with buyers in the street and at leisure spots across the Pla d’Urgell capital. There, he sold doses for personal consumption.
Raid yields drugs and cash
The operation culminated on 6 February. Officers executed a search warrant at the suspect’s apartment in the Grupo Catalunya residential blocks. During the raid, police seized a package containing 33.50 grams of rock cocaine. They also found six individual one-gram wrappers ready for sale.
In addition to the narcotics, agents found €2,085 in small denominations. They also discovered various utensils used to prepare and package the drugs. The 51-year-old was arrested on suspicion of a crime against public health for drug trafficking. Authorities consider the region’s main point of sale for retail cocaine to be effectively dismantled. This follows a recent major police operation against the Trinitarios gang in Catalonia.
