The Mossos d’Esquadra have successfully closed more than twenty drug dealing locations in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat over the past year, marking a significant crackdown on narcotics operations in the metropolitan area.

The operation represents a sustained effort by Catalonia’s regional police force to dismantle the network of drug distribution points that had established themselves throughout the municipality. These locations, commonly known as “narcopisos” or drug flats, had become focal points for illegal substance trafficking and associated criminal activity.

The enforcement action highlights the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating organised drug distribution networks that exploit residential properties for illegal operations. L’Hospitalet, as part of Barcelona’s metropolitan area, has been particularly affected by such criminal enterprises.

The closures form part of broader police efforts to tackle drug-related crime and improve public safety in residential areas where these operations had taken root. The success of the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of sustained police intervention in disrupting established criminal networks.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent the re-establishment of similar operations whilst working with local communities to address the underlying factors that enable such criminal enterprises to flourish.
