Mossos d’Esquadra have dismantled a major drug trafficking network operating across Barcelona’s metropolitan area.

Officers arrested seven people and seized a vast haul of narcotics and weapons during coordinated raids on Thursday.

The operation, which began in February, targeted an organised group distributing cannabis and hashish from a base in the Sant Andreu district.

Consequently, police expanded their investigation across multiple locations.

Major Drug Network Uncovered in Metropolitan Area

Investigators discovered the group operated a sophisticated logistics network. They used several properties across Barcelona, Badalona, and Rubí for storage, cultivation, and distribution.

Furthermore, the organisation managed six fully equipped indoor cannabis plantations. These facilities contained specialised growing equipment, including sodium bulbs, extractors, and air conditioning units.

During the 14 property searches, police made a significant seizure. They confiscated 60 kilograms of ecstasy, 10kg of ketamine, and 1.5kg of methamphetamine. Additionally, officers found 18.5kg of marijuana, 550 grams of hashish, 550 grams of cocaine, and 300 grams of speed.

The haul also included 1,234 cannabis plants in various growth stages. Moreover, police seized three firearms—two handguns and a sawn-off shotgun—along with ammunition.

Authorities impounded six vehicles and recovered €63,975 in cash. This operation highlights ongoing police efforts to combat organised crime in the region, following other significant interventions such as the recent arrests linked to violent incidents.

The Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed the group had the necessary infrastructure to supply various illegal substances. The investigation remains open, and the seven detainees are expected to appear before a judge.
