Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating the death of a young man found stabbed yesterday evening in Barcelona’s Bon Pastor neighbourhood. The victim, in his twenties according to police sources, was discovered on the third-floor landing of an apartment building with a knife wound to the chest and a head injury. Emergency services tried to revive him, but he died at the scene.

The body was found just after 8pm on Carrer Sèquia Madriguera. By Wednesday, the blood stains and sheet that covered the body still marked the spot outside the third-floor flat. “How is it possible they haven’t cleaned this up?” asked the neighbour opposite, who has to step over the remnants to leave home.
Residents say they don’t know the victim. However, they do know the man who lives in the flat where the young man apparently entered or exited from. “People are constantly coming and going from that flat,” says Sebastián Gea, a lifelong Bon Pastor resident. The building, owned by Institut Municipal de l’Habitatge, houses 14 families, mostly people rehoused from the old casas baratas.
The door to the flat doesn’t even have a handle. “Just push it and it opens,” says one neighbour who prefers not to give her name. She describes it as a kind of drug flat. Meanwhile, Mossos are investigating the death without any reliable leads, as there are no witnesses.
“I arrived at night, everything was cordoned off, and I couldn’t even get into my own home,” says one woman who lives in the building. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos has taken charge of the case.
