A woman is under investigation by the Mossos d’Esquadra after allegedly slapping her daughter’s teacher during a confrontation at a school in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The incident took place early on Tuesday morning at the Institut Escola Maria Miret, prompting an official police complaint and a firm condemnation from the school’s faculty.

The altercation began when the parents of an infant student wanted to speak with the teacher as the school day was starting. According to a report by El Caso, the teacher explained she was busy and asked the parents to direct their concerns to the school’s management team. At this point, the conversation escalated, with the mother striking the teacher with a “strong slap” to the face.
A ‘Conflictive’ History and a Formal Complaint
Sources from the school, cited by El Periódico, described the mother as “very conflictive” and stated she had caused problems on previous occasions. The teacher’s colleagues quickly intervened to provide assistance and de-escalate the situation, preventing any further physical aggression.
Although the incident occurred on Tuesday, the teacher did not file a formal complaint with the Mossos d’Esquadra until the following day, Wednesday. The Catalan police have since opened an investigation into the mother for a minor injury offence. This investigation highlights the serious approach authorities take to ensure safety, a priority also seen in other recent police actions, such as the inquiry into a brutal group attack in Ciutat Vella.
School Condemns ‘Brutal Aggression’
In response to the event, the Institut Escola Maria Miret, located on Carrer de la Riera Blanca in the densely populated municipality of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, issued a powerful statement on its social media channels. On behalf of the entire faculty and management team, the school categorically rejected the “brutal aggression” suffered by their colleague.
“At our educational centre, no form of violence towards any worker or among the student body will be tolerated or normalised,” the statement affirmed.
This incident brings the issue of safety within educational institutions into sharp focus. While physical assaults by parents are rare, the well-being of staff and students remains a paramount concern for administrators. This concern also appears in other forms across the city’s academic landscape, including a recent case where a Barcelona professor was investigated for alleged sexual harassment.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to clarify the full details of the confrontation. Meanwhile, the school community has rallied in support of the affected teacher, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.
