Autumn has arrived in Barcelona along with menu changes at many restaurants, making it a good excuse to revisit favourites. There are also new venues joining the city’s varied dining scene. Some opened just weeks ago, others a few months back, but they’re all worth considering fresh discoveries.

Mundial Bar (Google Maps) reopened on 10 September celebrating 100 years of existence. After five years closed, this classic Born bar that first opened in 1925 has returned almost unchanged. The space, menu and prices remain similar. Fish and seafood define the offerings, with tapas like the classic cuttlefish, prawn omelette, pickled sardines, smoked cod liver pâté, fried octopus sandwich, and dishes like sea tripe, fisherman’s suquet or sautéed chickpeas.

Casa Fiero (Google Maps) is a personal project from the Maleducat founders. The interior recalls a private dining room, bold in its mix of paintings, mirrors, textiles and decorative objects. The menu features popular dishes like ham croquettes, rib and cod cassola noodles, three-meat roast macaroni, plus sophisticated options like grilled charred leeks with almond escabeche.

They also serve dishes like fried chicken, gimbap (similar to sushi rolls but stuffed with meat and pickled vegetables), and kimchi.
