Barcelona’s getting a new electronic music venue. Boris nightclub opens this weekend in the space formerly occupied by Bacarrá on Carrer Bori i Fonestà. The Costa Este group has completely transformed the uptown venue.

The opening weekend kicks off Friday 10th and Saturday 11th October. The club aims to become a reference point for Barcelona’s sophisticated nightlife scene. However, it’s deliberately intimate with capacity for just 250 people.
Friday brings a pre-opening night for exclusive guests. Saturday’s the proper launch with a surprise performance by electronic DJ and producer Dorian Craft. Meanwhile, the old Bacarrá has quite the history behind it.

The original Bacarrá opened as a nightclub in 1986. By the mid-90s it had become a strip club, finally closing last March. After months of renovation, Boris showcases a total redesign. The interior draws inspiration from major European clubs with deep reds, velvet and gold accents.
Moreover, the venue features cutting-edge lighting and sound systems. Complete soundproofing work ensures no disturbance to neighbours. That’s crucial for any nightclub trying to survive in Barcelona these days.
Boris targets Barcelona’s thirty-something uptown crowd. Opening hours are Thursday 23:59 to 05:00, extending to 06:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The age policy reflects this adult focus. Friday and Saturday entry requires 27 years minimum, whilst Thursdays allow 23 and over.
Costa Este Group already runs major Barcelona venues like Opium and Bling Bling, plus beach club Bastian Beach. This marks the first time the next generation leads a project. Brothers Ramón Jr and Jorge Bordas Estany are running Boris. They’re rescuing a historic venue and transforming it into something modern and exclusive.
The music programme features resident DJs and major international headliners. Musical styles include afro-house, house, tech house and melodic techno. Rising genres like afrobeat and amapiano will also feature. It’s a proper electronic music venue, not just another nightclub playing chart hits.
