The Norway Epstein scandal has prompted the Norwegian Parliament to announce an independent investigation commission. This follows explosive revelations linking five prominent figures to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Consequently, the scandal has overshadowed the Winter Olympics and triggered a national crisis.
According to reports, the public prosecutor’s office has already begun proceedings. These focus on the relationships between Epstein and high-ranking Norwegians. Meanwhile, the fallout has reached the highest levels, implicating the Royal Family, senior diplomats, and international organisation leaders.

Norway Epstein Scandal: Royal Family Under Scrutiny
The most high-profile figure named is Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Reports indicate the Princess exchanged friendly messages with Epstein after his initial conviction. In one instance, she reportedly travelled to Florida to meet the magnate while her family returned to Oslo.
These revelations have had immediate consequences. Several human rights organisations have withdrawn their patronage from the Princess. Furthermore, the timing coincides with the rape trial of her eldest son, Marius Borg Høiby. Additionally, the Princess is currently suffering from serious health issues.
Norway Epstein Scandal: Diplomats Charged with Corruption
Significant legal developments concern the diplomatic couple Mona Juul and Terje Rød-Larsen. They are best known for facilitating the Oslo Accords. Rød-Larsen formerly headed the International Peace Institute in New York, while Juul served as Norway’s ambassador to the United Nations.
Reports indicate Epstein transferred significant sums to the couple. He also allegedly bequeathed one million dollars to each of their children. Following these disclosures, Mona Juul has resigned from her post as ambassador to Jordan. Both Juul and Rød-Larsen now face corruption charges. Therefore, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ordered an internal investigation.
Norway Epstein Scandal: Political and Global Elite Implicated
The investigation also encompasses former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland. Jagland, a Labour Party veteran, reportedly had trips and stays in the United States funded by Epstein. It is also alleged the financier covered a medical bill for Jagland’s wife.
Another key figure is Børge Brende, a Conservative politician and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Brende currently serves as President of the World Economic Forum. He is reported to have met with Epstein on multiple occasions in 2018 and 2019.
This Norway Epstein scandal has sparked a fierce debate about the “globalised elite.” Critics argue these figures used their positions for personal advancement. They claim this behaviour was detached from public accountability.
