Travellers planning trips across Spain for the latter half of the year can now book high-speed rail journeys for as little as €9, as low-cost operator Ouigo launches its latest major ticket promotion. The campaign covers travel to all 15 of its Spanish destinations, including from Barcelona Sants, for journeys between 3 August and 12 December 2026.

The French-owned company, a key player since the liberalisation of Spain’s high-speed rail network, aims to boost train travel by offering an affordable alternative to flights and car journeys. The promotion underscores the increasing competition on Spain’s railways, which has driven down prices for consumers on major routes.
How to Secure the Cheapest Fares
According to the announcement, reported by El Confidencial, Ouigo will stagger the sale. An exclusive 24-hour presale for users of the official Ouigo app begins at 10:00 AM on Monday, 4 March. The general sale for all other customers will then open on the company’s website at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, 5 March.
Ouigo operates on a dynamic pricing model; therefore, the lowest fares are limited and depend on availability. The company advises that the sooner customers book, the higher their chance of securing the €9 tickets. The promotion also includes a fixed child fare of €7 for passengers aged 4 to 13, while children under three travel free on an adult’s lap.
Connecting Barcelona to Spain
From its hub at Barcelona Sants, a major interchange with the city’s metro and Rodalies commuter services, Ouigo connects the Catalan capital with key Spanish cities. The network includes routes to Madrid’s Puerta de Atocha and Chamartín stations, Valencia, Zaragoza, Seville, Málaga, and Córdoba.
The full list of the 15 destinations included in the promotion is:
- Barcelona (Sants)
- Madrid (Puerta de Atocha and Chamartín)
- Valencia (Joaquín Sorolla)
- Tarragona (Camp de Tarragona)
- Zaragoza (Delicias)
- Albacete (Los Llanos)
- Alicante (Terminal)
- Cuenca (Fernando Zóbel)
- Murcia (Murcia del Carmen)
- Elche (ELX AV)
- Valladolid (Campo Grande)
- Segovia (Guiomar)
- Seville (Santa Justa)
- Málaga (María Zambrano)

Travel Amidst Network Upgrades
This attractive fare offer comes as Spain’s rail network, managed by Adif, undergoes significant upgrades. While these works aim to improve infrastructure long-term, they are causing temporary disruption. For instance, passengers on the popular Madrid-Barcelona route may face extended journey times until December 2026 due to major projects near Madrid.
Investment in the network is widespread, with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility overseeing numerous projects. In Catalonia, for instance, Adif recently awarded contracts for upgrades near the French border, including a €3.7 million design contract for improvements on the Figueres-Perpignan line. While Ouigo’s latest campaign presents a significant opportunity for budget-conscious travellers, we advise checking specific journey times and conditions before booking.
